Addiction prevention

Addiction prevention encompasses measures and programmes aimed at preventing or reducing the occurrence of substance abuse and other forms of addiction. It is aimed at individuals as well as communities and organisations and aims to raise awareness of the risks and consequences of addictive behaviour, strengthen protective factors and promote positive behaviour.
In the corporate context, addiction prevention can be part of occupational health management (OHM) and include measures to promote the physical and mental health of employees.

This includes, for example, training on how to deal with stress, raising awareness of addiction problems, creating a culture of openness and support and providing support and interventions for affected employees. Through targeted prevention measures, companies can help to promote the health, safety and productivity of their employees and minimise the negative effects of addictive behaviour in the workplace.
