17 tips to stay active!

Inhalt

To make sure that sport becomes and remains an integral part of your life, we’ve put together 17 tips to help you stay on track! 🚴🧘🏋️

Look for sports that you like

For example, running and strength training at the gym are great workouts. But that’s no use if you don’t enjoy it. Therefore, keep an open mind and try anything you feel like doing to find your thing. And remember, it’s never too late!

Set small goals

Start small and look for goals that you can actually achieve. If you have a big goal like “run a marathon” work with intermediate goals that act as milestones to show you the way.

Find training partners

With Teamfit you already have a perfect tool to exercise together and work on goals. In addition, sports in community – whether team sports or with a running partner – is a wonderful thing. Sweating together connects and creates commitment! You can find an overview of team sports here.

Limit your workout to 5 minutes

If you really don’t feel like doing your scheduled workout, don’t skip it. Start and if you don’t feel like it after 5 minutes, you can stop. By the way, this doesn’t only work for sports!

Less is often more!

In line with the above tip, every minute of exercise is better than no minute! Do shorter sessions, even if you have planned a long run, for example. Especially in the beginning, regular activity that we do not associate with extreme effort or high exertion helps us develop habits.

Take the direct route

If you have a workout scheduled after work, don’t drive home first. The hurdle to start again then increases many times. Instead, pack your gym gear and start your workout right away. Of course, you can do the same in the morning. This is one of the three building blocks of a habit, along with activity and reward.

Pack your sports gear

This point also helps you as a trigger for the right routine. If you want to exercise in the morning, get your gym clothes ready in the evening.

Reward yourself after the workout

As the third component of a routine, reward is considered a crucial element for practicing behavior. Moderate exercise triggers a feeling of reward anyway. However, feel free to increase this with that beloved piece of chocolate or your favorite reward.

Plan your sport sessions

Write down your sports appointments in your calendar. This way you create commitment and give it the importance it deserves.

Keep the benefits of sports in mind

Sports are healthy, make us look better, make us happy, reduce stress and make us physically and mentally stronger. Visualize yourself exercising and give yourself a smile – it can do wonders.

Visualize your training plan

Write yourself a workout schedule and hang it up in your home. This is not only a regular “friendly reminder” but also shows you after some time what you have already achieved.

Document your sessions

By documenting your sessions, you can keep track of your progress and remember how you dealt with motivational crises in the past.  Teamfit is a great way to do this, but there are many other ways you can do this as well.

Add variety to your workouts

Vary your training. Incorporate different sports and create variety within them. For example, when running, you can discover new routes and alternate the speed and distance.

Buy good sports equipment

Good equipment can increase your motivation. Not everyone needs a running watch – but if you enjoy technical gadgets and they encourage you to run, that’s great. At the same time, the right clothes or yoga mat will help you feel as comfortable as possible during your activity.

Read stories of successful athletes

Biographies and stories of successful athletes can be a brilliant source of inspiration. In addition, they often show us that very few people are born with everything they need, and that everyone has to do something to achieve success. We can learn a lot from some athletes from a mental point of view.

Watch videos

Watch videos or documentaries about your favorite sport and you will see: The desire to be active increases directly.

Sports are fun

When we have found the right mode, the right goal and the right intention to do sports, sports are usually really fun. If you consider that our body is primarily made to move, this is not surprising. Especially false ambition or too high goals and demands can often stand in the way of fun. Be aware of what YOU really want, regardless of external expectations, and find your own personal path. We wish you all the best and much success!
